Atlantic City FC Dominates Season Opener with 4-0 Victory over First State FC

Wilmington, DE – In a thrilling season opener for Atlantic City FC, also known as the Aces, the team emerged victorious with an impressive 4-0 win over First State FC in the National Premier Soccer League. The match took place on May 11th, 2023, at Abessinio Stadium in Wilmington, DE, with a sizable crowd of over 400 enthusiastic spectators enjoying the perfect weather.

The game started with a series of back-and-forths with both teams missing several opportunities early. In the 36th minute, returning ace and one of last year’s best players, Sean Fatiga capitalized on a moment of vulnerability from the opposing goalkeeper, confidently finding the back of the net to give Atlantic City FC an early lead.

The first half showcased the skills and determination of Colin Beasley, the star forward from Rutgers University. Beasley showcased his prowess by netting the first of his two goals, extending Atlantic City’s lead to 2-0 at halftime.

As the second half kicked off, the Aces continued their relentless pursuit of goals. James Cahill, in his second year with the team, played a pivotal role in the team’s success by providing a brilliant assist to Beasley, who wasted no time securing his second goal of the match.

Not to be outdone, Jason Barragan made his mark on the game with a remarkable strike from outside the box, leaving the opposition’s goalkeeper with no chance of making a save. Barragan’s scorching goal sealed the deal for Atlantic City FC, securing a resounding 4-0 victory.

The match was a historic one for the Aces, as it marked their second win at Abessinio Stadium. Their previous triumph at the venue dates back to 2021 when they secured a convincing 3-0 win. It also marked new head coach Alexis Mendoza’s first win in the National Premier Soccer League. Atlantic City FC showcased their ability to dominate on the road and left no doubt about their intentions for the season.
