The game ended in a 1-1 draw, but it was enough for Atlantic City FC to secure advancement to the Keystone East Conference Championship game against defending national champion FC Motown on July 15th, 2023, at Montclair State University. The match began with Atlantic City FC feeling the effects of their second game in just 48 hours, as they struggled to find their rhythm and fell behind 1-0 by halftime. However, they showed great determination and resilience in the second half.
In the 62nd minute, the “super sub” Kevin Keirnan stepped up and delivered the equalizer, igniting the spirits of the Atlantic City FC fans. Keirnan’s goal injected new energy into the team, and they fought tooth and nail to maintain the scoreline and secure their advancement in the playoffs.
Jackson Lions put up a strong fight, bombarding Atlantic City’s goal with several close shots. Michel Webber, the goalkeeper for Atlantic City FC, displayed incredible skill and composure as he made crucial saves to deny the Lions from regaining the lead. Aiden McGuigan returned to the lineup, replacing the unavailable Quinn Bosanko, adding depth to the team’s attacking prowess.
For the Lions, Kenan Hot opened the scoring in the 35th minute, giving his team a temporary advantage. However, they were unable to hold onto the lead as Atlantic City fought back relentlessly to secure the draw.
This marks Atlantic City FC’s third playoff appearance in the last five seasons, demonstrating the consistent quality of the team. With 19 points, this season represents the third-best finish in the club’s regular season history, further solidifying their standing in the league.
